Do I need experience to go private?
It helps! This option is best for confident buyers who either have experience in negotiations or a trusted legal/financial team. If you’re new to private sales, we recommend researching via Settled.govt.nz.
What happens in a homeowner is interested?
They will reach out to you directly. From there, you’ll handle negotiations, contracts, and legalities. We don’t act as an agent or middleman—we simply open the door for you.
Can I get help with legal & financial matters?
Yes! We can connect you with trusted solicitors, mortgage brokers, and legal experts, but we’re not part of that arrangement. You’ll work with them directly.
What happens if the homeowner lists their property publicly after receiving my Doorknock?
The homeowner is free to decide their next steps. If they choose to list their property publicly through an agent or other method, it becomes a standard sale. At that point, you’re welcome to pursue the listing through the usual channels, just like any other buyer.
What if the homeowner isn’t interested in selling?
There’s no obligation for the homeowner to respond, but they’re encouraged to let you know. If they decide not to sell, you can continue your search and remain in line for future opportunities.

What if no homeowners respond?
While we craft each Doorknock to be highly engaging, responses are ultimately up to the homeowners. If you don’t get a response, you can consider expanding your search area, adjusting your messaging, or running another round of Doorknocks.

How is my privacy handled?
Your contact information is only shared with the addresses that are Doorknocked. We advise you to provide only contact details you are comfortable using for this purpose.
Doorknock does not use or share your private details with any third party or outside sources—they are used exclusively for Doorknocking purposes.
